Brushbound
(March – Apr 2024)
In March of last year, Nicole wrote, designed, and coded a visual novel titled Brushbound.
Story Overview
Long ago, a genius named Leonardo da Vinci revolutionized mankind’s approach to innovation as a whole. One day, though, he died. This is not his story. This tumultuous tale is about another Leo: an average artist on a peaceful prairie ranch. One stormy evening, as he paints a tornado in the eye of a storm, lightning strikes, infusing his tools with magic. Now, everything he paints comes to life. Chaos ensues when a portal is opened to another dimension, unleashing an art thief that steals one of Leo’s enchanted brushes. Leo must take down the art thief before the art thief conquers the world.

Role & Responsibilities
Programming
Players make narrative-based decisions to charm the bachelor of the evening, Jeremy, into paying the bill. Nicole utilized YarnSpinner & C# to systematically create a conversational gameplay loop. See here for more information.
Version Control
Nicole created and managed a repository for the project, which allowed her to sync her and her group members’ work over multiple computers.
She also frequently met one-on-one with each group member to sketch out a timeline of deliverables. See here for more information.
